Left 4 Dead Crash Fix : Lag, Freeze, Sound Loop
IMO Left 4 Dead is one of the best shooting game ever created for PC platform. Being a big fan of this game I would love to play this all night long, but I have often face with problems such as the game freezing every 1-2 hours I play, sound loops and even lagging. So for those Left 4 Dead fans if you are facing the same problems then here’s a post that might give you some help.
Freeze Fixes
open the console and enter “mat_queue_mode 0″ (minus the quotes). It will help to disable multi-core for the game
Lag Fixes
At the main menu hit your console key (Default ~) Then in the console type in “openserverbrowser” (without the “s) and hit enter go to the custom tab and re-fresh all and join a server that pings less than 100 to you.
At the main menu hit your console key (Default ~) Then in the console type in sv_search_max_ping 100 (default is 250) Should make Launching games from the Lobby a bit less painful.
Sound Loop Fixes
Try Setting shader detail to medium. (Graphics setting) ~ From DodgeRodge
Try Setting sound quality to medium.
Check to make sure you only have one sound device installed
start > run > dxdiag > If you have more then 1 Sound tab, uninstall the one that isn’t your sound card.

i have the same problems my frames per second get down to 10 whenever i play any campaign.
Are there any errors where as you can’t play the game after installation like L4D2? Cause i’m going to buy left 4 dead cause i can’t get left 4 dead 2 to run after the install, and i looked up tutorials on how to fix it, but i don’t get it. =(

I had the black screen loop sound crash system bug in l4d and l4d2.
I tried all the tricks i’ve found on the Internet … never works completly …
Then I thought it could be a harware and not software problem and I’ve cleaned all my PC tower (didn’t do it for few years). I’ve particulary cleaned my graphic card and it’s fan !
The bug don’t appear anymore and I can retreive good video configuration and recent video drivers !
well all of my network room got 600 plus Ping !
