Have you ever tried to watch a video on Youtube, only to realize that it has no sound/audio? The video playback has no problem & your browser can view the video clearly… Hmm, so what went wrong?

According to the official Apple Mac OS X site, the problem is caused by some audio applications that change the computer’s audio settings to a very high sample rate, so other applications would not be able to use it.

So what can I do to fix it?

1. Open “Audio MIDI Setup” (/Applications/Utilities/), then check the “Audio Output” setting.
2. Change the “Audio Output” setting to 44100.0 Hz.
3. Quit Audio MIDI Setup.

If the Audio Output setting is grayed out or disabled, go to “Properties For” tab in Audio MIDI Setup, and select “Built in Output”.
