It was founded in the year 1988 by Matiur Rahman. It has received several threats during these years, one of the most serious threat is to ban the newspaper after they have posted the cartoon of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, but still it remains as one of the established major newspaper in Bangladesh. They have successfully organized Mathematics Olympiad for the first time in Bangladesh in 2003, which until now they remain as one of the main sponsor of the event.

I can’t but write reading all the positive comments about prothom alo.
These comments are the reflections how prothom alo has washed their
brain. Theys guys are among others who stops learning in a certain level.
So turned into ” A little learning is a dangerous thing” things.
There are lot of emergency issues to do research and to publish
for the betterment of Bangladesh.But prothom alo keeps itself busy
with very silly matters. I don’t understand why?
I don’t like prothom alo because it disguise under morality.
It says “it stays with good matters”, But does not clarify the
basis of it’s ethics and morality.
I also dislike it because of it’s negative attitude towards the
reponsibility it has taken.

Yeah,i like prothom alo but recently i gradually shifted to Kaler Kontho because of its news presentation style.Now prothom alo publish less news but more advertisement.its totally boring to me. I think now prothomalo takes little care about social responsibility.they have more concentration on earning.
I think prothom-alo will lose it’s leading position guickly if they don’t take steps about their lackings……
