Maxis Broadband? Or Celcom Broadband?
I am currently using Maxis Broadband myself, however it has come to my attention that Celcom Broadband also provide similar service, but with a better performance. Maxis Broadband is good enough for my use, but I heard a lot of people complaint about it, so should I change to Celcom Broadband? If anyone of you viewing this post are one of the users for both services please leave your opinion below so that I can compare both of them.

I m ex customer of maxis broadband. Don’t ever register with maxis broadband. their line always disconnected, bulky modem. lock sim card, unnecessary phone. victim customer. now i m using Celcom broadband which have wider coverage
If you noticed, and google the maxis, you will see a lot of bad comment about this services from other customer. so please stay away.

Hey guys, i thought you wanna hear this.
Last month, i just download almost 40 GB including movie, music,software,and games using Maxis Broadband!! Yeah, if you using small modem (RM 138), then it’s not working very well to download because it function to surf web, not downloading.
But if you guys use big modem (ZTE, RM 98,)it can be use to download all great stuff by no limitation. Maxis just say 3 GB per month but i don’t think they doing their job to check how much user download per month.
I will upload word document about how to tweak Maxis Broadband very soon. In other word, you can visit this website to download movie and tv show for free.

Not so much Malaysian at there but this is alternative way to download tv show and movie other than torrent.
before this i used maxis broadband, which is so-so, then before 7-days cool-off period, i’ return it back, then i try celcom broadband, which is great for me, which is like to download things, whereas in maxis line, to download is like living hell
4 me i’ll say no to celcom broadband!!!!!
There’s few reson reason about it:
1. celcom have 5gb limit and maxis have 3gb limit, but my data usage every month was 10gb (you know p2p use very large data transfer) and i still got to connect to the internet without any interrupted connection. and i notice that a friend of my,also hardcore p2p user, said that his celcom broadband cannot connect at all after it reach the bandwidth.
2. maxis user can cut their broadband any time but celcom user only left with 2 chooses pay rm499 or stay 4 2years
which is better……….i heard a lot of people use streamix………….r u agreed………….why maxis so slow………….my one is 2 mbps but the process like 512 kbps…………..i hate maxis broadband…………..

hey guys wat ever you do, don’t go near izzi, cus its slowest that you will ever experience….
and don’t fall, how fast people tell you its, trust me…hah… you don’t wanna know. its damn slow..
now thinkin about changin it to maxis or celcom.
I think Internet access in Malaysia is problematic at best, however reading some of the posts, some service providers are please some customers some of the time.
I have tried all wireless services available to me in KL, none of them worked very well, and in response to the original post, Celcom has proved the worst for me personally. Most of the time it does not work at all, after successful logon I do not receive any data at all, and then suddenly it will give me 5 or 6 minutes of “broadband” internet access before coming to a complete stop once again.
I think most of the providers simply do not have the capacity they are selling and they may even be selling from a single “pool” of internet access so if you live in a bad access area you are unlikely to get an improved service from another provider.
Any service provider “engineers” care to comment on that? Or are you too embarrassed to come on line?
Anybody have any luck with wireless internet in Bukit Bintang area please let me know which provider you are using.
How about Mykis anybody have any experience with this service?

The best that I’ve ever used is P1 Wimax! Why? Cause I reliable and fast compare to Streamyx, Maxis Broadband Wired or Wireless, Celcom Broadband & iZZiNet.
Right now I’m using Maxis Broadband Wireless & is sux! It kill me second by second since I can’t do much things such as download. P1 Wimax currently use at my office since we already get fed up with Streamyx & their support. P1 Wimax give us a peace of mind to do things in our office since my boss already screw us with Steamyx line.
Therefore, choose your ISP (Internet Service Provider) correct. Check your location & the package that they offer. Don’t go subcribe or you will reget later.
I’m changing my Maxis broadband to P1 Wimax tomorrow since it still got 7 days cooling agreement.

but Wimax damn limited in coverage. Either way, internet in Malaysia screw up. ONly good internet ever exist is the FON , PenangFon and MetroFon.

When I call to customer service, they told me, “My area is under NO coverage area.”

Only the word can say with you……that maxis broadband which is lowest packages are very bad even is starter or advanced but the most highest package is better than normal standard, it can use for download or search web as possible and its speed is about half of 3.6 mbps on bright sunny day but cannot use it for rainning season even thought the sky is becoming dark so the percentages to use it on these season are very low!!!It is my heartfelt wishes so don’t waste times to thinking about each others……

I suggest not to used Maxis BroadBand either Celcom Broadband.. there is hidden word using by the saleperson… U only can download 3Gigabytes permonth.. what the fuuuuuuuucccccccckkkkkk… if yr usage more then 3Gigabytes yr speed trottle will become slower and slower….. (as per inform by maxis center person). But this thing not told by salesperson…..
to me maxis bb is just fine..i just download almost 10gig in one day..plus I’m in segamat which is very “kampung” area..it still work best..guess what?now I’m downloading prison break and chuck simultaneously..

I used both but maxis never throttle my connection speed after I downloaded more than 10gb but celcom immediately throttle my connection down to below 10kbps after I exceeded 5gb. WTH!?! I paid so much and you only let me use my connection for 3 days? Very angry at celcom now
I am a loyal maxis customer. But for it’s broadband,I would advise u guys not to use it. It’s really bad and you will regret it, believe me. The line disconnected about 5 to 6 times in an hour and for your info, I’m living opposite to Sunway Pyramid,not is some villages. I called the customer service complaining abt this but they hang up my call. really pissed off.

Ya maxisBB is VERY BAD….after a month using it it’s become slower than the 7days of trial and it’s true that when the weather is changing (cloudy or rain)…huh!! disconnect all the time.
I’ve been using celcom BB for 1 year +, living in Klang area.
Speed is okay but I just hate the limit. 5 gig is too smaaallll. The fair usage policy is stated in the agreement, so cant really complaint. But on the other hand, we DID PAY for the speed. Sending a complain email to celcom now. Do I need to move to singapore for better internet services?? urgh.
I got my Maxis BB when I bought my HP laptop in a package. So I don’t need to pay the bill for 2 years – well actually paid up front at discounted rate (saving close to RM1500 for both).
In 1st year (2008), the connection is just nice for browsing but downloads speed like snail. However, I notice since this year, the performance has improved. And recently I upgraded my modem software provided at Maxis BB website (http://www.maxis.com.my/maxisbb/) and notice the download speed is even better.
From my experience, last year to download 100MB file from rapidshare is so difficult. But now I can easily download it in less than ½ an hour. I also have no issue with their fair usage – I think they don’t enforce this as I never felt the speed dropping.
But to honestly, I would love to try WiMax…
Maxis BB. threw out from my window oredi. i only used it for 5 months. terminate the service even to pay 200 for penalty. they do limit your 3GB usage. (both UL/DL). eventually while your “torrenting”, it counts UL and DL tgether. for 2 days, there goes your 3GB capacity. then you will be “enjoying” narrow band service for the balance of the month. first month was good, this is the tactic. believe me. just cut it last week.
I m celcom BB user. Every night I cant sleep well bcoz I worried about my celcom BB usage will exceed 5G. But nt download v my celcom BB, I really wonder wat I can do v its connection… However, I m still paying my MONEY to celcom.

i have BEEN very very patience with your STUPID broadband. i registered some time in april AND until today june i cannot get the service. each time i complained to the vendor at giant stadium shah alam who cheated me into this company – she would called the broadband careline service and assured me everything was ok. but when i tried at home ttdi jaya shah alam – the same problem – it only last for 1 or 2 minutes and then – the page cannot be displayed, cannot find server … again i brought my laptop to see them but then it seemed to be running well at that time and accused me of lying …
FED UP WITH THIS STUPID COMPANY THAT MADE FALSE PROMISES TO THE PEOPLE THROUGH CHEAP ADVERTISEMENT – i endured the suffering!! When asked to stop the service and go for MAXIS broadband i was asked to pay penalty of RM300 for breaching the contract of 18 months. LUCKILY my wife is using MAXIS BROADBAND – BLODDY FANTASTIC SERVICE!!!! Non stop endless service the whole day without INTERRUPTION AT ALL!!! To begin with, i debated with my wife earlier whether to buy celcom or maxis. but because she was using MAXIS – the POWERFUL and the COMPETENT – we decided that i gave celcom a try because the promises made on its broadband advertisement seemed TRUTHFULL!!! ALAS … Finally i discovered through curses the horrible truth about this product by this company – BLOODY SWINDLER!!!! omg now im scared!!! i just terminated my stremyx cuz i wanted to subscribe to celcom broadband. while using stremyx i had no problem using it everyday (im a heavy user) but since i want to be able to access internet anywhere, anytime (Not just at home) i decided to terminate it..
however, im having a second thought now… I am a HEAVY USER: download musics, movies almost everyday, playing online game, surfing, etcetc… but with the capped 5gb!! OMG OMG!! die lar cenggini!! apatah lagi i live in kampung area with no HDSPA coverage *screams and faints*

I subscribed to streamyx celcombb maxisbb, my final choice is maxis bb, streamyx service is very very very very lousy, complaint and came to my site many time but still cannot solve the frequent disconnet problem, they even said your NEW pc got problem!!! celcom average download speed for me is about 0.4mbps, lowest is 0.12mbps, highest 1.1mbps, although 5GB is more attracted than 3GB, but surf with this speed i’ll be melted soon, getting hotter and hotter while waiting, but maxis provide me average 1mbps, lowest 0.6mbps, highest 2.4mbps, maybe this speed is too fast so i can reach 3GB very fast, after u reach their(celcom&maxis) usage limit they will throttle you to 0.128mbps, but i found that some days yes and some days no for maxis, streamyx said if u subscribe to 1mbps then you get at least 70% of the bandwidth then the line no problem which mean that is 0.7168mbps, so both of maxisbb and celcombb said either 3.6mbps or 7.2mbps, that’s the speed that modem can support not the download speed they provide, if you wan to test the speed go to http://www.speedtest.net to test with local server for local site or oversea server for international site, wireless bb speed will be affected by weather, signal strength, and the no. of users in your location, so different place different time will get different speed, my opinion is to test it yourself for both if u want to subcribe wireless bb, but beware celcom take 3~6months to refund advance payment.

I am waiting for P1 WiMAX to come to my area. I hate maxis n celcom bb much coz their impression to me is only slow n limited fair usage n expensive. WiMAX’s wiggy usb modem’s usage fair(10 GB) per month is really gud n d speed is same as maxis n celcom bb. Y don’t i chose wimax as my isp?

Celcom BB is good. But the 5G limit is the killer. As my download went over the 5G limit, my file download speed has dropped to 15kb/s.

Hi everyone, I just subscribe to Celcom Wireless Boradband, so sar so good, it works very well in KLCC and Seri Kembangan area.
Average download speed got 150kbs ++, torrent download is average 15 kbps.
I heard a lot complaint regarding to Maxis BB and others, I think it is very much depending to their coverage area, make sure you call the respective telco’s operator get clear and confirm everything b4 you sign up for it!
I go for Celcom! No regret. They provide excellent customer service too! Try it!
I wonder if Celcom can be more generous of providing the monthly usage up to 10Gig or not! 5Gig really not enough for 24/7 use!!!

i stay in batu caves area (to be exact near sri gombak). i subscribe celcom RM98 at a hypermarket near Selayang. I asked the sales person to check whether my area is under HSDPA or else (eventhough i have checked it before, just to make sure). He try to browse but failed and he said “oh under big building such as this one the coverage are poor but at your house should be fine”. So i trusted the guy. Back at home i’m happy cos the s/w shows HSDPA full bar. However, my happy mode ends there when i check on the statistic and found out that average download is below 20k/s. I call up the customercare center (fuxx the center) to explain about the problem. 1st cs operator just hang up even before i finish. 2nd operator i talk to called Jaya as me to change some setting under the mobile partner which is a crap and ask me to wait for 30 minutes before re-connect back as he reset the server. Then i called up again and talk to a guy named Firdaus and he repeat and ask me to do the same thing and this time he added that “kamu kena faham bahawa the broadband are using sharing basis and area kamu sekarang ada lebih kurang 500 pengguna”. So i ask him this is not my concern as your advertising and promotion doesn’t mentioned about this. 3rd operator say the same thing and if still persist then they will do a report for the Technical side to answer/feedback. 4th operator by the name Sham ask me the same question: “is the setting correct? wat modem u r using? what light is the modem showing? what is ur area (eventhough i told them as per my mailing address)? and other less smart question which i already repeat for more than 4 times. He say he will do the report. I say that it? I ask him what is the report reference number so that i can call Celcom in case if they failed to act so and he replied he will give me a call in the morning just before 0830 hrs to give me the reference number (time i call is 0230 hrs and does it take 6 hours just to get the reference number?…) And not to a surprise they didn’t call me. The night after that i did received an email from them stated that im near to exceed the 5Gb usage. Yesterday morning another email stated i have exceed the usage and the have the right to … bla bla bla bla… (u will know y i have exceed the 5Gb in later part of this statement). I have my patient up to my head so i decided to call them again. This time a gal by the name Izah answer my call. Again i told her the whole story and the person i spoke to before her. I did mentioned that the last person i spoke to already made a report and i seek her assistant to find out the out come. And again not to a surprise, SHE SAID NO REPORT WAS LOGGED. i say “huh!…”. To cut short the story she say “oh Sir from my record u have exceed the 5Gb usage”. Ok here is the point: I ask her to check my usage (log in/log out) and i ask her 4-5 days non-stop download only can finish the 5Gb and i ask her do u know that this is damm slow. Normally it take less that 1-2 days to achieve that by using so called BROADBAND. She said very sorry Sir we can’t logged any report now cos u have used the quota. So i asked her what is the solution and as i predicted “Sir u need to wait till end of this month so that u can get back the quota or u can buy the unlimited package RM299″. She mentioned there is no solution for this. Bear in mind for each call i made is roughly 20minutes and the 1300 line charge rm0.30 per minute. So i hve decided to cancelled the line and she say u need to walk in to celcom branch to do this. This is really suxx. I did talk to her about the marketing, commercial, customer satisfaction factor but she seems like dont care at all not to mention that she just keep quiet without giving any response for a few times during the conversation till i have to ask “r u still there?/r u listening to me?”. That is rude, so rude. So i asked her if i talk to ur manager or supervisor can they help me? I say can’t right? and she say yes, u have just need to wait till next month. Thank you for reading my post. CELCOM REALLY SUXX…!!!

All broadband in Malaysia sucks !!! It should be rename as “BERUKBAND”
Maxis BB is totally unacceptable. Feel like going back to 15years ago when I was using 14,4kbps dial up modem! According to Maxis website, my area suppose to be well covered by 3G signal but that is not true! I’ve never seen any 3G/HSDPA signal on the modem. All I’ve got was GPRS/EDGE. They are cheating consumer. Shame on you, Maxis!
maxis is better …i’m using celcom now, but there is only one word i can express for celcom broadband, which is slow and also the line is very down…so i prefer maxis broadband, which more stable..
One big complaint is that Maxis limits your account data usage to 3gb per month….. if you pushed away from that limit = slow connection even open google is a problem. So if you are using maxis prepare to
1. Not watch lots of video streaming ( like youtube and such)
2. No torrenting
3. Im not sure but i think video call from msn affects the data usage. Might be wrong.
They say that it was a “fair consumer” policy….. How fair can that be? And talk bout high speed. That is complete crap. In a high speed area, but surf somewhere outside of the area is much faster than inside. That made me used the connection more away from my house than at home.
The only thing Maxis is fast for is their downloading of stuff, provided u do not over spent the 3gb data usage thing. And Maxis is known for disconnecting at very crucial moments. im running a 23 kbps per sec at home. And 53kbps outside. So please take into mind if you are a potential maxis user. Don’t even think that their call for help centre will help you…. Ask them why the internet is slow and disconnecting, they always say the same six words,…….” WE ARE CURRENTLY UPGRADING OUR SERVICES”
Try Time dot Com Broadband, give you better speed & save more than others, i think less than RM 60 for 2mbps, speed up to 2.5Mbps, but limited area are covered..
Trust me, DON’T change to Celcom Broadband.

I compared with my sister’s broadband which is Maxis and mine, Celcom.
Downloaded a 350 MG file with Maxis’s in 30 minutes, Celcom’s 6-14 hours?
It WAS fast when I first bought it. Now, what a dissapointment.

young chaps will still be playing games in net center…
