US Basketball

US Basketball
Do you still remember that we have covered Crazy Basketball in the past? US basketball is another similar game, & this time instead of playing in an arena, you get to play in the three of the most famous places in the USA! USA Basketball offers a variety of achievements, add-ons, interesting game modes and even multiplayer mode!

Instead of just playing with basketballs, you can compete with your friends using a variety of different balls which will directly influence the game play.

Furthermore, there are challenge mode such as H.O.R.S.E mode which you can play against other online players, or have some fun with AI. For those of you who have never H.O.R.S.E before, basically your objective is to collect the five letters, H.O.R.S.E. by making highly difficult trick shots that are made to force the other person miss. The AI seems to be a bit out of sync as they don’t seem to shoot the ball before time expired, & we do hope that the producer will find a way to fix it soon.

In H.O.R.S.E, player #1 can choose to shoot from anywhere on the court. If the shot goes into the basket, player #2 must take the shot from the same position. If player #2 misses, he/she receives the first “letter” from the word “horse”, “H”. However, if player #2 makes the shot, no letter will be given to either player, and now it’s player #2′s turn to make the decision as to where he/she can launch the new shot.

For classic mode, you will be shooting basketball just like in a normal game, & for each game that you have finished, you will earn coins which can be used to buy addons such as extra planes, which will give you double coins for each shot that you made.

Verditc : This game is skippable, nothing fancy.

Infinity Blade

Apps Review

Infinity Blade
It’s mind-boggling to say the least, that a gorgeous looking iOS game with advanced 3D graphics can make it to a phone. The smooth sword fighting scene on an iPhone’s touch screen is just as good as any of those found on a game console, and for just $5.99, this is dirt cheap compared to other games in the marketplace.

While it can be play on iPhone, please do us a favour by playing it on an iPad. Really, the sound system & the sheer quality of the gameplay should be enjoyed on a tablet rather than on a phone. Plug your device to an external speaker & enjoy the high quality sound of the characters dialogue with your enemies.

You will be playing as a warrior who’s given the responsibility to set the denizens free from a land intruded by a deformed tyrant. Since you’re starting from zero, you will be defeated easily by the level 50 God King. Two decades later, you strive to take revenge for your father, who arrives at the castle dressed in father’s armor and has taken all the experience from your ancestor’s battle. You’ll be fighting through different enemies, ranging from trolls, warriors & other guys in one-on-one battle before reaching the final boss.

Verdict : While it promotes redundancy based on it’s gameplay, the amazing graphic & sound effect takes gaming to a new level, & it challenges the iOS to perform at its best.

Bike Baron

Apps Review

Bike Baron
Bike Baron isn’t your ordinary bike game; we’re talking about a game that requires precision, timing and weeks of practice before mastering it. This is definitely not for those who will throw their iPhone away when they are being stuck in the same level.

The developer, Mountain Sheep has designed 40+ levels that range in difficulty from easy to virtually impossible. In other words, you can finish the game with your eyes closed or you will get frustrated for repeating the same movement over and over again. The aim of the game is simple – you have to get your biker to cross the finish line. All the levels are all short, and for those who’re struggling to finish the game, there are multiple checkpoints that you can reach along the level to avoid starting all over again.

Bike Baron comes from the cartoon school of physics. Levels are designed with a certain wackiness, with huge jumps, loops and explosions. But the Baron is slightly more realistic in design. Like most people, he’s vulnerable to hitting his head, blowing up, smacking into ledges or crushing himself under his bike. Honestly, if you’re going to participate in this kind of extreme biking, you really ought to be made of hardier stock.

Having your character upside down is normal. It only takes a few levels to reach a point where excessive precision is required. Jumping at the wrong time & you will have to start from previous checkpoint. Heck, a small tilt to the back will left you cringing to your iPhone & shouting for help.

From a gamer’s point of view this game be either challenging or frustrating (Depends on how you define it). Falling over and over again is a common sign, & while the sound & artwork is a pleasure to look at, I doubt if you will want to stare at it for a whole day.

Once you have finished a level, you get to have a detailed view of the statistics screen that shows how many times you’ve won or died.

To unlock a new level, all you have to do is to finish the current level. At first it’s easy to get one, but soon you will have to complete a certain stunt before you can unlock a new level. For casual gamers this can be a minor annoyance, but for those perfectionists, it’s not an easy task to finish it within time limit while collecting all the golden coins & without involve in any accident. With up to three stars to be earned each level, the replay value of the game is high, provided that you’re motivated enough to play it over and over again.

Verdict: It’s not the type of difficulty that suits everyone’s preference, but if you love challenging yourself to the limit, then this game is definitely for you.

Where’s My Water?

Apps Review

Where's My Water
Where’s My Water? is great puzzle game designed by Disney. You will be hurdling through obstacles to fill a bathtub with water in order to let Swampy the alligator cleans himself up. Water supply doesn’t come easily, players will have to dig through muds, bomb it, syphon it and redirect the water supply to make sure Swampy has a nice bath.

The graphic is a step above from the ordinary design – Swampy himself has a wonderful emotion and always appears to be active. While Swampy is the only character that you will see in each level, it doesn’t affect the gameplay at all, as it uses physics carefully to thread the game together, just like Cut The Rope.

The basic water-directing gameplay might get old eventually, but through tricky puzzle design Walaber has take this game to a whole new level by implementing unique features such as acid water which sinks into dirt, water-activated switches that will trigger special functions, and many more. This gameplay is certainly not new, but for those who loves physics type of game, this should be included in your must have list.

Monsters Ate My Condo

Apps Review

Monsters Ate My Condo
Imagine you have four hilarious looking monsters hanging around your residential high-rise. There’s a blue unicorn called ‘Reginald Starfire’ who wears a skin tight one piece garment, a red crab with a boat on it’s claw, an one-eyed Japanese business-man and a yellow chihuahua a brain on a robot’s body. Your job is to keep these monsters happy by feeding floors that consist of the same colour as the monster to keep them happy, otherwise they will get angry & start attacking your condo.

The only way to keep these monsters happy is to swipe the floor to feed them, & there will be new floors dropping from the top to form a new level, and that’s only control of the game.

After you swipe each floor to a side, you can put three (or more) floors of the same color together to score a combo. Succeed for the first time & you will get a bronze floor. Once you have three bronzes together, it will be converted into silver. Three silvers will become a gold and finally three golds make a diamond.

Each combo will trigger a special power, and each of them will help you in keeping your tower organized. Duration of each power will be based on the colour of the combo.

Verdict : Monsters Ate My Condo is a clever game. Feeding the monster might keep them happy but you will miss out on scoring a combo, and swiping the floor away will make them angry but then again you can get huge points from matching the same colour. You need to use your mind to think & concentrate on which move is best to reach your goal, & to make something so challenging & fun at the same time is what makes this game so exciting.
