It was founded in the year 1988 by Matiur Rahman. It has received several threats during these years, one of the most serious threat is to ban the newspaper after they have posted the cartoon of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, but still it remains as one of the established major newspaper in Bangladesh. They have successfully organized Mathematics Olympiad for the first time in Bangladesh in 2003, which until now they remain as one of the main sponsor of the event.
prothom alo is a very nice & neutral paper in my view. i want it will remain neutral to keep its popularity to all. i wish prothom alo will remain prothom alo for everybody

Prothom-alo is the best bangla newspaper for every banlavashi.
Now almost 65 % of the paper full of advertisements, most of those are scams like immigration and education abroad.
That means we actually get about 35 % news from a 20 page paper we bye.
There should be a clear policy of printing advertisements about it’s genuinity and and contents.
We expect more responsible attitude on these points from a person like Motiur Rahman and a paper like Prathom Alo.
